KEIKI

Play in nature is at the heart of Anuenue Tree’s curriculum, but early literacy, math, science, arts, social emotional learning, and physical development are all addressed in an integrated and authentic way through experiences in nature and activities such as: art, dance, story- telling, music, gardening, meditation, yoga, cooking.  Anuenue Tree’s curriculum also allows for structured and non- structured experiences that follows keiki’s interests.  In this way, as interests emerge the mentors will adapt their activities and curriculum.

OPIO

The Opio program is split into two parts:

Farm days (Monday and Tuesday)

Will explore the arts such as dance, theatre, music, art, story-telling, journaling and gardening.  These lessons will interweave academics through live learning techniques to inspire them to excel with hands on experiences.

Adventure days ( Wednesday and Thursday)

Held at different locations through out the East and North Shore of Kauai. The intention is to immerse the children in environments that will develop their skills in:

- Self- awareness and the nature around them

- Practical skills such as: Fire making, tracking, shelter building, food and medicine identification and harvest, and wilderness first aid.

- Motor Skills: climbing, lifting, digging, building, movement exercises and games.

- Bush Craft: weaving, tool making, fire kit building, natural fiber twine, traps, natural dyes and paints, etc.

- Adaptability: as each day provides a different form of exploration

- Social and Emotional Skills: problem solving, listening to each other and nature, resolving conflict, following directions, and taking care of themselves and their bodies.

These lessons will also include academics while focused on the play and exploration of each activity.
